Hello. My name is Carter. I am a 5 year old neutered Rat Terrier who was surrendered by my owners. I make up with strangers very slowly so you can imagine what it’s like here where everyone is a stranger, and there are more of them coming in every day. I am very frightened here. If you sit on the floor by my crate, I will eventually come to you once I know you aren’t going to hurt me. As long as you don’t reach for me suddenly or scare me, I am a great little guy on walks. In my crate, my tail is between my legs in fear, but on walks, I hold it high and really enjoy myself. I do need to work on housetraining, but if you have a patient and loving household (no small children, please) I would really like another chance! Please? **Carter has come far in a short time. He now greets visitors at the door of his kennel, and he LOVES to go for walks. He also loves belly rubs. He would be a wonderful companion for an older couple or a family with no children. Sudden movements still startle him.
